HOYA Shield

Georgetown University is subject to variety of hazards that require the activation of our emergency management framework, which includes the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Emergency Operations Center (EOC). This makes it critical to assess this framework and associated policies and procedures on an annual basis to ensure that they align with best practices and are relevant to the hazards faced by the Georgetown community.

Exercise Hoya Shield is designed to engage the ERT and Senior Policy Group in a simulated disaster that requires full activation of the emergency management framework and EOC. The ERT and Senior Policy Group engage in discussions as they work through dynamic, challenging scenarios designed to assess the capabilities of the emergency management framework. This assessment allows for the continual improvement of the framework, so Georgetown is prepared for new and adapting hazards.
