HOYAlert

HOYAlert messages provide guidance in the event of an emergency impacting the safety or security of any of Georgetown University’s campuses in the DC metro area. HOYAlert allows users to receive messages via email, SMS text messaging and by following @HOYAlert on X (formerly Twitter).

All students, faculty and staff will receive HOYAlerts at their Georgetown University email address and at any cell phone numbers that the University has on file. If you would like to review or update your information, please visit Rave.

Most HOYAlerts go out to all community members in the DC metro area, regardless of Hilltop or Capitol Campus affiliation. There are, however, some localized alerts based on the primary campus location. You do not need to opt in for HOYAlerts for your primary campus (i.e., Hilltop or Capitol Campus). If you would like to opt in to receive HOYAlerts for additional locations (e.g., opt in for the Capitol Campus if you are based on the Hilltop Campus), you can do so in GU360. If you are unsure if you are receiving localized HOYAlerts for either campus, you can opt in for either or both campuses.

HOYAlert (emails and texts) will be used to notify students, faculty and staff about changes in the University’s operating status, including notifications regarding closings and delays. Inclement weather information can also be found by calling the inclement weather line at 202-687-7669 or visiting the University operating status webpage.
