A Travel Safety Reminder for the Holiday Season

As many of you prepare to travel in the coming weeks, we write to remind you of steps you can take to ensure your safety.

We encourage all travelers to take the necessary precautions to protect your personal belongings and always be aware of your surroundings. Specifics on the latest security information and safe travel tips are available to the entire Georgetown community and can be found on the ISOS website

For those traveling abroad, please be aware of the renewed Travel Alert for Europe, issued by the U.S. State Department on November 16, 2017. The alert is in addition to the recent Worldwide Caution, renewed and updated on December 6, 2017. For additional information, please consult the Travel Warnings and Alerts section of travel.state.gov.

We encourage all members of our community who are traveling abroad to register with the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP).

You can also view security and safety information on the country information sheet by using the State Department’s Learning About Your Destination feature.

Additionally, for those on University-sponsored travel not enrolled to receive ISOS email alerts, we recommend you enroll at the ISOS website to review assistance services offered:

  • Telephone: +1-215-942-8478 (collect calls accepted)
  • ISOS Website: https://www.internationalsos.com
  • Georgetown Member #: 11BCPA000227 (use the member login on at the top of the page)

As always, please do not hesitate to contact us at emergencymanagement@georgetown.edu with any issues during your time away from the Hilltop.
